Mountain Bikes
Mountain bikes have thicker tires with tread designed to handle dirt and rocks.
These tires have lower inflated psi (pounds per square inch) to handle the more technical
terrain and jumps and drops of mountain biking. They also have suspension built into the front
fork and sometimes the frame as well. These are either called full suspension or hard-tail bikes.
Some mountain bikes have larger tires called "fat tire" bikes which don't always have
suspension
as the extra bounce in the low psi tires makes the frame suspension unnecessary. Fat tire bikes
are
especially useful for sand and snow, where other bicycles would lose traction and slip.
